Flu Shot Clinic in Lobby Gallery Now Open

By News Staff

Please complete the on-line consent form no more than 48 hours before going to the Flu Vaccine Clinic.

As outlined in Administrative Guide 4.5.18, the UAMS Medical Screening Policy, all UAMS employees, students and volunteers are required to have an influenza vaccine each year.

New influenza vaccines are released every year because influenza viruses evolve quickly, and last year’s vaccine may not protect you from this year’s viruses.  An annual seasonal influenza vaccine is the best way to help protect against influenza. The vaccination has been shown to reduce the risk of influenza illnesses, hospitalizations and the risk of influenza-related death in children.

Individuals who receive their vaccination outside of UAMS Student and Employee Health (SEHS) will be required to provide documentation of vaccination compliance to SEHS via studentandemployeehealth@uams.edu

Employees, students and volunteers who have had anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of influenza vaccine may be medically exempt. Flublok is available for those with an egg allergy. Religious exemptions will be considered, but philosophical exemptions are not accepted. All exemptions must be submitted on the UAMS influenza vaccination exemption request form in order to be considered.

Employees working remotely or off-campus may get their influenza vaccine in the Hospital Lobby Gallery or at the UAMS Vaccine Clinic at 401 S. Monroe Street. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are not required. Free front-door parking is available at the Monroe Building.

When third doses of COVID vaccines are authorized, eligible employees may get this vaccine at the same time as their influenza vaccine.
