Free Macular Degeneration Seminar at UAMS Nov. 9

UAMS will hold a free public seminar about age-related macular degeneration Sat., Nov. 9, 10 – 11 a.m.
“Seeing Eye to Eye” will be in Jo Ellen Ford Auditorium in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Aging at W. 6th and Elm on the UAMS campus. Parking will be available at the center.
The seminar will include an educational video about age-related macular degeneration. Ophthalmologist Ammar N. Safar, M.D., of the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute at UAMS, will answer questions. To register, call 501-686-5150.
Age-related macular degeneration is an eye condition that affects central vision. It is a common cause of vision loss in people who are over 60 years old. The new Retina Services Clinic at Jones Eye Institute provides treatment for age-related macular degeneration and other retinal disorders. Dr. Safar staffs the clinic. His extensive medical training in ophthalmology includes a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
