UAMS Recognizes 10 Outstanding Referring Physicians Oct. 25 in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will honor 10 of its top referring physicians for 2002 at a dinner Friday, Oct. 25, in the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.

The selected doctors are members of the UAMS Associate Staff. This group of 253 Arkansas referring physicians helps UAMS develop ways to improve its service to all its referring physicians in the state.

Dr. Charles W. Smith, the medical director of UAMS, will present each of the 10 doctors with a redwood Napoleon mantle clock is engraved with the UAMS College of Medicine seal and the words, “2002 Outstanding Referring Physician.” The presentations will be at a dinner during the UAMS Dean’s Inaugural Continuing Medical Education Conference.

  • · Dr. Harold H. Hedges, Little Rock – Family Practice
  • · Dr. Charles H. Rodgers, Little Rock – Family Practice
  • · Dr. Lander A. Smith, Conway, Ark. – Family Practice
  • · Dr. Scott J. Stern, Little Rock – Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery
  • · Dr. Erma S. Washington, Pine Bluff, Ark. – Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Dean’s Inaugural CME Conference and Dinner is part of UAMS’s ongoing efforts to offer educational opportunities for physicians throughout the state. It will assemble several UAMS distinguished clinicians and researchers to make presentations on a variety of issues affecting the medical community. The event coincides with the first anniversary of the arrival of E. Albert Reece, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., as dean of the UAMS College of Medicine.
