Free Seminar and Screenings for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome at UAMS Dec. 7

LITTLE ROCK – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will sponsor a free seminar and screenings for carpal tunnel syndrome Saturday, Dec. 7.

The event will be in Walton Auditorium in the Arkansas Cancer Research Center at UAMS in Little Rock. The seminar – including presentations, a question-and-answer session and drawings for door prizes – will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The first 75 people to register will receive the free screenings between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The seminar and screenings are part of the UAMS “Here’s to Your Health” Educational Seminar Series for the general public. Carpal tunnel syndrome results from compression of the median nerve as it passes through the narrow carpal tunnel at the wrist. Common symptoms of the condition include tingling or numbness in the hands; sharp pain that shoots from the wrists up the arms; burning sensations in the fingers; morning stiffness or cramping of the hands; weakness in the hands; and impaired fine-finger movements.
