Three Doctors Join Jones Eye Institute

“We are extremely pleased to have these experienced ophthalmologists join our faculty. They bring skills and expertise that add to and complement our current services as well as enhance our teaching and research programs,” John P. Shock, M.D., director of Jones Eye Institute, said.

Renowned physician A. Henry Thomas, M.D. has had an active private practice in Little Rock for 27 years while serving part-time on the faculty of the Department of Ophthalmology in the UAMS College of Medicine. He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology and strabismus, an eye muscle disorder, and will see patients at the Jones Eye Institute, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital. Dr. Thomas received his degrees at the University of Arkansas and UAMS. He completed an ophthalmology residency at UAMS and a fellowship in ocular motility at Smith-Kettlewell Institute of Visual Sciences in San Francisco.

Michael N. Wiggins, M.D., an Arkansas native, returned to his home state after practicing comprehensive ophthalmology in Georgia. He received his undergraduate

degree at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, and then earned his doctor of medicine degree at UAMS. Dr. Wiggins completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

Nicola M. Kim, M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with interests in cataract and eyelid surgery. She relocated to the Jones Eye Institute from a busy practice in Dallas, Texas. A magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Kim completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
