UAMS Vice Chancellor Leo Gehring
Earns Professional Distinction
| LITTLE ROCK — Leo M. Gehring, vice chancellor for campus operations at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has been named a Senior of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (SASHE).
Gehring received the designation at the annual conference of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association.
Gehring already carried the ASHE designation Certified Healthcare Facility Manager. To reach senior status, he had to meet requirements for documentation of his experience, career accomplishments, community activities, and education. He also had to submit an original research paper. Gehring’s paper was about the importance of infection control in hospitals, entitled “The Aspergillus Threat in Healthcare: A Cause and Effect Analysis and Recommendations for Control.”
“This award represents a milestone in Leo’s career,” said Bill McCully, 2003 ASHE President. “By becoming a SASHE, Leo shows his dedication to our profession.” Gehring became vice chancellor of campus operations at UAMS in 1998.
ASHE is one of 13 professional membership groups affiliated with the American Hospital Association.
