Tiny Hands Monster Bash Oct. 25 to Benefit UAMS Family Home

By todd

The event will benefit the Family Home and Arkansas Cancer Research Center Auxiliary Cancer Support Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

The evening will begin with a live auction from 6:30-8:00 p.m. At that time the winning bids on a silent auction will also be announced. The auction activities will be followed by cocktails, heavy hors d’oreuvres, and dancing to the music of the local band Webbsite.

The UAMS Family Home opened in January at 4300 W. Markham, across the street from the UAMS campus. It provides free and inexpensive lodging for the mothers of premature babies in the UAMS Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC) patients and their families while the patients are undergoing outpatient cancer treatment. The home is an independent, non-profit program of the group Parents and Friends of Children and Adults, Inc. It depends on private donations for support.

Organizers are planning for the Monster Bash to be a festive costume affair. “We want people to get creative in putting together costumes to wear, although a costume is not necessary to get in the door,” said Robin Dean, coordinator of the ACRC Auxiliary Cancer Support Center, which helps run the Family Home. “We hope everybody can come, and even bring groups of friends.” Call Dean at 978-2903 or 978-2900 to purchase tickets.
