UAMS Physician Appointed to Arkansas Health Care Foundation Board of Directors
| LITTLE ROCK – Jerry Malott, M.D., an assistant professor of medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has been appointed to the board of directors of the Arkansas Health Care Foundation (AHCF), a nonprofit corporation that addresses long-term care issues.
Malott, clinic director at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Aging at UAMS, represents the Arkansas Medical Directors Association (ArMDA) on the AHCF board. AHCF educates the general public and business and elected leaders in Arkansas about nursing home care and long-term care and establishes educational programs for individuals who provide services to long-term care facilities and their patients. The foundation also administers pilot programs to improve the quality of care in the long-term care industry and creates scholarships for people who pursue degrees in fields related to long-term care.
Malott has extensive experience in treating and managing the health of older patients and has spent a total of 15 years serving as medical director of several nursing homes. He is a founding member and current president of ArMDA, an organization that focuses on the education of medical directors, practicing physicians and other health care providers in nursing homes.
