Mabry, who is also practice management advisor in the college’s Department of Surgery, recently became one of 22 new editorial board members of the Archives of Surgery. This publication of the American Medical Association is devoted to publishing peer-reviewed original contributions and the best scientific papers from several surgical societies. In his new position, Mabry will review submissions and advise the journal’s editor-in-chief and other members of the editorial team on overall composition and content of the Archives of Surgery.

Mabry was also elected to membership in the Southern Surgical Association, a select group of approximately 650 surgeons nationwide. He is one of only 12 Arkansas surgeons – nine of whom are either current or retired UAMS faculty members – in the association. The 116-year-old organization promotes the scientific research and education of its members and the surgical community as a whole. Original scientific papers are presented and discussed at the association’s annual meetings to foster and promote the highest quality of surgical care delivered to patients.

In addition to his positions at UAMS, Mabry is in private practice in Pine Bluff. He earned his medical degree and completed a residency in general surgery at UAMS and is a member of the UAMS College of Medicine Founders Society. He is a regent of the American College of Surgeons and represents that organization on the AMA Relative Value Update Committee, which determines the values of medical and surgical procedures for the United States.
