“The Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship Fund for Baccalaureate Nursing Students will allow us to recruit the state’s top academic students. A special emphasis of this scholarship program will be recruitment of gifted minority and disadvantaged students. We welcome more scholarship support for our baccalaureate students since many of them have to work part-time to be able to afford school,” Dean Linda C. Hodges, Ed.D., of the College of Nursing said.

The UAMS College of Nursing is one of 10 in the nation to receive gifts from the trust. The grant, payable over three years, is comprised of $500,000 which the college will place in a permanent endowment and $47,500 which the college will use to provide scholarships for baccalaureate nursing students.

The Helene Fuld Health Trust, HSBC Bank USA, Trustee, is the nation’s largest private funder devoted exclusively to nursing students and nursing education. In 1935, Dr. Leonhard Felix Fuld and his sister, Florentine, created a foundation in honor of their mother, Helene. In 1965, the foundation was converted to the Helene Fuld Health Trust.
