UAMS Seminar on Hip, Knee, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery May 1

The seminar will be from 10 a.m. to noon in Room G/225 in the College of Public Health at UAMS. Free parking for seminar participants will be available on the top level of the UAMS parking deck across Campus Drive from the college. Seating is limited; to register, call (501) 686-6363 by Tuesday, April 27.

The seminar will cover arthritis, a medical condition that affects the bones and joints and often requires surgery; minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement surgeries; minimally invasive shoulder and elbow procedures; and postoperative rehabilitation.

Carl L. Nelson, M.D., professor and chairman of The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine and director of the UAMS Center for Hip and Knee Surgery, will lead the program and a question-and-answer session. Three fellow faculty members of the UAMS College of Medicine will join him: Eleanor A. Lipsmeyer, M.D., professor of rheumatology; David A. Lipschitz, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman of geriatrics and director of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Aging; and Syed “Ash” Hasan, M.D., assistant professor and director of the Shoulder and Elbow Section in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
