UAMS Gynecological Oncology Director to Discuss Cervical Cancer at Free Public Lecture May 13 in Fort Smith
| FORT SMITH – Alexander F. Burnett, M.D., the director of gynecological oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will discuss cervical cancer at a free lecture for the public at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 13, in Fort Smith.

Burnett received his medical degree from the Georgetown University College of Medicine where he also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in gynecological oncology (the medical subspecialty that deals with cancers of the female reproductive system). Burnett, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the UAMS College of Medicine, is certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His clinical interests include preserving fertility in gynecologic cancer patients; managing gynecologic cancers through minimally invasive procedures; and improving survival in cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancer patients.
