LITTLE ROCK – Fort Smith native Judith McClain has been named executive director of medical alumni affairs at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine.

McClain will develop and oversee expanded alumni affairs programs and services, including regional alumni meetings, alumni association-sponsored continuing medical education (CME) events, and more, said College of Medicine Dean E. Albert Reece, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A.

A UA-Fayetteville graduate, McClain has 28 years experience in business development, marketing and community involvement and has held numerous executive, management and consulting positions for private firms, not-for-profits and community organizations in Colorado and Texas. She was director of marketing for FKP Architects Inc., in Houston from 1999 to 2004, when she was promoted to senior vice president.

She joined the College of Medicine staff Nov. 14, taking the place of Janet Honeycutt, who died last year.

UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, five centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has about 2,320 students and 690 residents and is the state’s largest public employer with almost 9,000 employees. UAMS and its affiliates have an economic impact in Arkansas of $4.3 billion a year.

UAMS centers of excellence are the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute, Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy and Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute.
