UAMS’ Bickel Named Researcher of the Year By Arkansas Psychological Association
| LITTLE ROCK – Warren Bickel, a recognized expert in addiction research at the Bickel, professor and the Wilbur D. Mills Chair of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Prevention for the Department of Psychiatry in the UAMS College of Medicine, was cited for his research into the underlying behavioral processes of drug dependence in humans and finding novel, cost-effective ways to deliver treatment. He received the award during the association’s Fall Convention on Oct. 26. Bickel is director of the Founded in 1949, ArPA is a non-for-profit, professional, statewide organization whose purpose is to advance psychology as a science, a profession and a means of promoting human welfare. UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers.
