Nicholas Lang, M.D., Named Chief Medical Officer at UAMS Medical Center

LITTLE ROCK – Nicholas Lang, M.D., has been named chief medical officer for UAMS Medical Center.


 


Lang will coordinate quality management functions and be involved in all aspects of the operation of the UAMS Medical Center and its clinics, including patient satisfaction and cost-effective care.


 


Lang has served as professor of surgery since 1990 in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. He also holds the position of professor in the Department of Radiology, and in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, as well as in the UAMS College of Public Health’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health.


 


Lang previously was chief of staff at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, where he served from 2001 to 2007.


 


A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Lang received his medical degree at UAMS. He completed his residency at the UAMS Medical Center (then University Hospital) and the John L. McClellan Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.


 


Following his residency, Lang completed a fellowship at the Laboratory of Immunodiagnosis at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Md.
