Art Horne Joins UAMS as Executive Director of Development for Colleges

LITTLE ROCK –Art Horne has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Office of Development and Alumni Affairs as executive director of development for UAMS colleges. 


 


Horne assumes responsibility for all fundraising activities related to the UAMS Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Related Professions and Public Health, as well as the Graduate School.


 


Horne previously served as executive director of development for the Southern Arkansas University (SAU) Foundation in Magnolia from 2002-2007. Prior to that position, he served as executive vice president of the Magnolia Hospital Foundation from 1996-2002.


 


A graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Horne received a master of religious education at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned the certified fund raising executive designation in 2001 and is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the National Council of Planned Giving.


 


UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has about 2,538 students and 733 medical residents. It is one of the state’s largest public employers with about 9,600 employees, including nearly 1,000 physicians who provide medical care to patients at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the VA Medical Center and UAMS’ Area Health Education Centers throughout the state.
