UAMS to Offer Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Screenings April 25
| LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is offering free oral, head and neck cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 25 on the sixth floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Screenings will be conducted by the UAMS Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Appointments will be taken from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 14-24. Those at risk include people who smoke, chew tobacco or consume excessive alcohol, as well as those who have previously had cancer in the area. Signs and symptoms of oral, head and neck cancer include sores in the mouth that do not go away, a growth or swelling in the neck, persistent sore throat, trouble swallowing or voice changes. UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, six centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers.
