LITTLE ROCK – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is inviting the public to attend a free program May 21 that will provide information about private health insurance plans that affect Medicare coverage for seniors.
The program will be presented at sites across Arkansas via UAMS’ Interactive Video Network.
Arkansans are encouraged to bring their questions and learn about these Medicare Advantage Health Plans. If purchased by a Medicare recipient, these plans replace coverage provided through Medicare. The program’s purpose is to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries understand these plans and to warn against deceptive marketing practices.
Information will be provided by a panel composed of:
Jean Block, assistant attorney general and director of the Health Care Bureau in the Attorney General’s Office
Melissa Simpson, director of the Senior Health Insurance Information Program in the Arkansas Insurance Department.
Jimmie Lou Fisher, consumer education instructor in the Attorney General’s Office
