By Nate Hinkel

The Arts of UAMS exhibit is free and open to the public. For library hours, call (501) 686-5980.

The exhibit features photographs by Bob Burns, Ph.D., a professor in the UAMS Department of Neurobiology and Developmental Sciences, and professional photographer Paul Caldwell, the son Fred Caldwell, M.D., who was a longtime UAMS faculty member.

Burns photographs landscapes and wildlife and is the Lutterloh Professor of Medical Education Excellence in the UAMS College of Medicine. He is also founding and current director of the UAMS Partners in Health Sciences (PIHS) program, which began in 1991 to provide professional development to PreK-12 teachers statewide.

Caldwell has been a professional photographer for 10 years and an amateur photographer for more than 30 years. His work is focused on Arkansas’ nature and scenic wonders and he has traveled the state looking for subject matter. His specialty is water, especially waterfalls.

Caldwell’s father, Fred Caldwell, M.D., was a professor in the Department of Surgery for 35 years.  His mother, Betty Caldwell, Ph.D. is an internationally recognized authority in early childhood education.
