Public Invited to Conference on Early Childhood Health
| LITTLE ROCK – The public and especially professionals who work daily with young children are invited to attend this year’s Special Needs in the Early Years Conference at the Hot Springs Convention Center on July 27 and 28.
Sponsored by the UAMS Department of Pediatrics, KIDS FIRST and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the conference’s invited experts will address autism, early brain development, early pediatric health care, infant mental health and nutrition issues in early childhood.
The cost to attend is $180 before the registration deadline of July 10, $200 thereafter and $225 for onsite registration.
Confirmed speakers and topics include:
• Craig Ramey, Ph.D., and Sharon Ramey, Ph.D., the founding directors of the Georgetown Center on Health and Education, on the benefits of early intervention
• Mary Gavin, M.D., pediatrician at AI DuPont Children’s Medical Center, on prevention of childhood obesity
• Joy Osofsky, Ph.D., professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, on understanding social and emotional issues in infants and young children
