Witness Project Invites Public to Nov. 8 Evening of Modern Dance
| LITTLE ROCK – An evening of modern dance is on tap to benefit the Witness Project, a community-based cancer education program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Public Health.
The 3rd annual Breast Cancer Dance Project will be held from 3 – 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute in the 10th floor Walton Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the evening of modern dance for free, but donations to the Witness Project will be accepted.
Donations from last year’s event helped the Witness Project reach more than 1,200 women with information about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Money raised has also helped successfully refer approximately 250 women for mammograms and clinical breast exams.
The Witness Project educates African-American and medically underserved women and refers them to low-cost or free mammograms and clinical breast exams in their communities. Mobile mammography units provide screenings for women living in counties with limited access to certified mammography facilities.
All donations to the Witness Project through the Breast Cancer Dance Project are tax deductible. Donations will be collected at the event, or you can make checks payable to:
