November 24, Science Café – ‘Obesity: Young & Old’
| LITTLE ROCK – The Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, “Obesity: Young & Old” on Nov. 24. Panelists will describe the impacts of exercise, adult/childhood obesity, nutrition and treatments.
Held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Vieux Carré Restaurant/Afterthought Bar
in Little Rock’s Hillcrest area, the Science Café is a relaxed opportunity for monthly exchanges with various experts. Admission is free and no reservations are needed. A variety of food and beverages are available for purchase.
This month, panelists from the UAMS College of Medicine and College of Health Related Professions, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute and Baptist Health Weight Loss Center will lead the discussion. The moderator is Dorothy Miles, Ph.D., UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute research associate and KUAR FM89 public radio news anchor/reporter.
Tune in for the Science Café “Sneak Peak” KUAR-FM89 radio show. This month’s guest speaker from the Science Café panel will be Karen Young, M.D., medical director, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Fitness Clinic. The science talk show is aired just prior (6:05 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) to the live monthly Science Café event.
