Ralph Vogel, Ph.D., R.N., a clinical assistant professor in the College of Nursing, was honored for service with the Arkansas Genetic Health Committee.

Vogel was honored at a March 12 ceremony and given a plaque describing his years of service in pediatric oncology and genetics and his “long-reaching effect on the health of Arkansans.” He was noted for his exemplary leadership as chair of the ARGHC from 2005 through 2011.

“While it’s not at all what you expect when giving to a cause you believe strongly about, it’s always nice to be recognized for your time and efforts,” Vogel said. “I am honored and proud to have been a part of their organization.”

Vogel received a nursing degree from Eastern Washington State University, and a Master’s of Science in Nursing and doctorate degrees from the University of Tennessee, where he did clinical work at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis. He joined UAMS in 1997 and was a charter member of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses and a reviewer for the Journal of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses.
