Twelve Named to UAMS Foundation Board
| LITTLE ROCK – Twelve new members have been elected to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Foundation Fund Board effective March 28. They are selected for a term of three years and may serve up to three terms.
· Beau Blair of Little Rock is executive vice president of McLarty Automotive Partners, director of GDV Imports Mexico S.A.P.I. de C.V. and co-founder of CapRocq Automotive LLC. He previously served as executive director of global investment banking at J.P. Morgan in New York.
· Joycelyn Elders, M.D., of Little Rock is professor emeritus of pediatric endocrinology at UAMS. She served as U.S. surgeon general under President Clinton from 1993- 1995, then worked at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital until her retirement June 30, 1998.
· Charlotte Gadberry of Little Rock is the owner of Charlotte Gadberry Consulting and serves as vice president of client development for the Gadberry Financial Group. Gadberry is a member of the UAMS College of Medicine Founder’s Society, the UAMS Legacy Society and the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging Advisory Board.
· Stanley Hill of Little Rock is the associate director of governmental affairs for Arkansas Farm Bureau. He serves on the Business Alumni Advisory Council for the University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business.
· Dana Silaski of Little Rock is a managing director in Investment Banking at Stephens Inc. and a senior member of Stephens’ Private Company Advisory Team. She is a member of the UAMS BioVentures Advisory Board.
· Kathy Alexander of Heber Springs is the retired senior vice president and general counsel of CenterPoint Energy. Currently, she serves as a consultant to the company. Alexander also serves as of counsel with the Roberts Law Firm, P.A. Alexander previously served on the UAMS Foundation Fund board from 2003 to 2011. She is a member of the College of Medicine Board of Visitors. Alexander currently serves on the University of Arkansas Board of Advisors.
· Freddie Black of Lake Village is chairman and CEO of Simmons First Bank of South Arkansas. He is on the board of directors of Simmons First Bank of South Arkansas and Simmons First Bank of Dumas. He is a member of the University of Arkansas Foundation Inc. Board of Directors.
· Lewis Epley Jr. of Fayetteville, a retired attorney, is a member of the UAMS Northwest Advisory Board, UAMS College of Medicine Founder’s Society and the UAMS Society of the Double Helix. He is a former member of the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging Advisory Board and has served on the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation Fund Board. He is also a former board and executive committee member for the University of Arkansas Foundation Inc. and a past chairman for the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees.
· Charles Scharlau III of Fayetteville is an attorney at Conner & Winters LLP and retired in 1998 as chairman, president and CEO of Southwestern Energy Co. Scharlau is a member of the University of Arkansas Board of Advisors and a member of the board of the Razorback Foundation. He is a board and executive committee member for the University of Arkansas Foundation Inc. and a past chairman for the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees.
· Dewayne Goldmon, Ph.D., of Pine Bluff is the director of stakeholder relations for Monsanto and the owner/operator of Dell-Cam Farm in southeast Arkansas. He is a member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association — National Alumni Board of Directors, and former board member of the University of Arkansas Black Alumni Association.
· Clifton Roaf, D.D.S., of Pine Bluff has practiced dentistry in Pine Bluff for more than 40 years. He serves on the Jefferson Regional Medical Center Board of Directors and has served on Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the board of Simmons First National Bank.
· Donald Munro of Hot Springs is the owner and chairman of Munro & Co. Inc., the Hot Springs shoe manufacturing company that he established in 1972. He serves as president of the Munro Foundation and is a member of the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute Advisory Board.
