Golf Tournament April 25 to Benefit UAMS 12th Street Health & Wellness Center

By Ben Boulden

All net proceeds support the mission of the 12th Street center. The tournament lunch will start at noon April 25 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The deadline to enter a team or sign-up for a sponsorship is April 18. For more information, contact Stewart Clark at (501) 548-1918 or sclark@uams.edu.

Hole, par and birdie sponsorships, for $200, $300 and $500, respectively, pay for varying levels of name-recognition advertising at the tournament. One four-person team can register to play in the tournament for $400, and an Eagle sponsorship of $800 entitles a sponsor to both name-recognition advertising at all levels and registration of a four-person team.

“We hope that the golf tournament will become an annual event,” said Lanita White, Pharm. D., director of the 12th Street center. “Physical activity is important to health and well-being, so this golf tournament seems like a perfect fit with the center’s mission of health and wellness.”

The 12th Street Health & Wellness Center is a free community-based, interprofessional clinic run by students under supervision of faculty and other licensed volunteers. It provides students from the UAMS Colleges of Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and the Graduate School an avenue to learn about, from and with each other. The center focuses on education, prevention and management of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.  It also provides information about healthy living, preventive care, consultations and screenings for residents of the Little Rock Promise Neighborhood and surrounding areas.
