College of Health Professions Faculty Accolades – December 2015

Dec. 17, 2015 | Here are recent achievements by members of the College of Health Professions faculty.

Jennifer Vincenzo, Ph.D., M.P.H., an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, was selected in November for a 2016 fellowship for junior faculty by the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program administered by the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.

The fellowship program supports the career development of professionals in academic and clinical geriatrics.

Vincenzo earned her doctorate in kinesiology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in May 2015 with a graduate certificate in educational statistics and research design. She also earned a Master of Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University. She completed her Physical Therapy degree at Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticut.  She  is a board-certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist with extensive experience in physical therapy for older adults.  She has a keen interest in preventing falls and maximizing independence within this geriatric population.

 

Laurence Howe, D.D.S., an assistant professor in the UAMS Center for Dental Education, was recently inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists during the organization’s annual convocation.

Fellowship in the organization, the world’s oldest and largest honor society for dentists, recognizes an individual’s outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community. Howe, who joined the UAMS faculty in 2013 after 28 years in private practice, has a long record of community service alongside his expanding role in dental education at UAMS.

As a UAMS faculty member in the Center for Dental Education, a part of the UAMS College of Health Professions, Howe delivers care to patients in its oral health clinic. He also supervises care provided by UAMS dental residents and rotations of senior dental students from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry. He has adjunct appointments as a clinical assistant professor in surgery from the UAMS College of Medicine and in pediatric and community oral health from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.
