The clinic, 1401 W. Capitol Ave. Plaza E (in the Victory Building), is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers primary care for patients of all ages, including:

  • Treatment for mild or severe illnesses that arise unexpectedly
  • Annual exams and preventive care
  • Management of ongoing medical conditions.

To make an appointment, call 501-686-8000. More information is available at UAMShealth.com/CapitolMall.

Charles W. Smith, M.D., director of Primary Care Services at UAMS, said the clinic offers the same level of service and access to health professionals as any UAMS primary care location, with additional flexibility for walk-in patients.

“This clinic is going to concentrate on providing services to the people who are downtown near the Capitol Mall area, in particular the state employees,” Smith said. “We want to encourage them to utilize our services for walk-in care or primary care. We will be working hard to make sure we serve those who work or who may live downtown.”

The clinic will be led by Jennifer Dukes Casey, M.D., who has most recently been practicing family medicine at the UAMS clinic on Financial Centre Parkway in West Little Rock. She graduated from UAMS with her medical degree in 2007. She completed her residency at UAMS South Central in Pine Bluff, serving as chief resident from 2009-2010.

“I’m excited about relocating to the Capitol district,” Casey said. “Our presence will allow for more access to health care for those working and residing in the area. My goal is to continue to provide superior health care to my patients as we work to improve the health of Arkansans.”

UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions and Public Health; a graduate school; a hospital; a northwest Arkansas regional campus; a statewide network of regional centers; and seven institutes: the Winthrop P. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, the Myeloma Institute, the Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute, the Psychiatric Research Institute, the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging and the Translational Research Institute. It is the only adult Level 1 trauma center in the state. UAMS has 3,021 students, 789 medical residents and two dental residents. It is the state’s largest public employer with more than 10,000 employees, including about 1,000 physicians and other professionals who provide care to patients at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the VA Medical Center and UAMS regional centers throughout the state.
