He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics in the UAMS College of Medicine. He began Aug. 15.

“We are excited to have Dr. Tait join our staff,” said C. Lowry Barnes, M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopaedics. “Having known Mark throughout his residency, we know his expertise and experience will ensure we provide stellar orthopaedic care at UAMS.”

Tait graduated with honors from Brigham Young University in 2006 and earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri in 2010. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at UAMS in 2015 and a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, in August.

He received further training in brachial plexus and nerve injuries on a traveling fellowship with Christophe Oberlin, M.D., in Paris.

“As a graduate of UAMS, I know the impact this institution has on health care in the state,” said Tait. “It’s an honor to join such a talented staff of physicians led by Dr. Barnes to provide the best orthopaedic care in the state.”

Tait’s research interests include sports and traumatic injuries to the hand, elbow and nerves of adult and pediatric patients. His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at various forums around the country.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society of Surgery of the Hand.
