Sept. 27 Science Café — ‘Finding Einstein’
| Sept. 13, 2016 | Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, Finding Einstein, on Sept. 27. Panelists will discuss the impacts of Einstein’s contributions to physics, such as quantum theory, gravitational waves and how we view and teach what is possible.
Science Café will be from 7-9 p.m. at a new location — Whole Hog Café, 12111 W. Markham St. Science Café is a relaxed opportunity for monthly exchanges with various experts. No reservations are needed, but seating is limited. Admission is free.
This month’s panel will include: Daniel Kennefick, Ph.D., associate professor with the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; Jack Waddell, Ph.D., physics instructor at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts in Hot Springs; and Balraj Menon, Ph.D., assistant professor, University of Central Arkansas, Department of Physics and Astronomy in Conway.
Dorothy Graves, Ph.D., a research assistant professor and director of research and publications in the UAMS College of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology, will host the corresponding live call-in program, “Science Café Little Rock,” on National Public Radio-affiliate station KUAR FM89. The science talk show, featuring one speaker from the monthly panel of scientists and experts, is aired just prior (6:05-6:30 p.m.) to the live Science Café event. Kennefick is this month’s radio guest.
Science Café forums are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month, except for July, August and December.
