Physician Assistant Program Reaccredited

By Robert Tolleson

The decision was based on the program’s application, a successful site visit, the program’s response to observations and its accreditation history, said Susan Long, associate dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Health Professions. The ARC-PA noted zero areas of noncompliance with the commission’s standards.

“Achieving this Accreditation-Continued status is a direct reflection of four years of hard work by the faculty and staff led by our previous program director, Dr. Patricia Kelly, said interim program director Edward Williams, MPAS, M.Ed., PA-C. “We all worked tirelessly to ensure that UAMS has a top-notch program. Having zero areas of noncompliance is a reflection of the program’s dedication to providing the highest quality education to future physician assistants, thus improving healthcare for all Arkansans and our nation.”

As a result of these findings, the commission extended the time between regularly scheduled validation reviews for the program from seven to 10 years. The next validation review of the program will be in September 2026.
