UAMS Northwest Regional Campus Accepting Applications for CHAMPS Summer Health Careers Program

The CHAMPS program at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville will be June 12-16.

During the CHAMPS program, students will participate in hands-on activities, including casting/suturing, pharmacy lab activities and earning certification in CPR. The students also will visit health care professionals at the UAMS Schmieding Developmental Center and UAMS Northwest Walker Clinical Education Center.

There is no cost for students accepted to the program. The deadline for applications is April 15.

Application requirements:

  • Must have be a rising eighth-10th grader
  • Have a 2.7 or higher grade point average
  • Provide one recommendation letter from a school health or science teacher or school counselor
  • Be able to attend the full week program, which meets from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from June 12-16

Applications for the 2017 CHAMPS Program may be picked up in a junior high school counselor’s office or at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus, 1125 N. College Ave., in Fayetteville. Online applications and more information about the program are available here or at www.arkansashealthcareers.com.
