“These funds enable us to advance the mission of the college, both in broadening the scope of instruction available to our students and in helping them achieve greater and more ambitious academic goals,” she said.

Dean’s Circle funding, provided by donors, is the only discretionary funding available to the college and, in the past, has been used to purchase needed equipment for faculty, pay for students’ attendance at conferences and lectures and help promote the college through print publications.

The evening event included an introduction of Michelle Gonzalez, Ph.D., CRNA, who has been hired to direct the formation and accreditation of the new nurse anesthesia education program. It also included remarks from Shannon Finley, who spoke about her experience in Washington, D.C., at the AACN Health Policy Summit, a trip made possible by Dean’s Circle funds.

Cowan said she hopes to use future donations for more student and faculty development, attending seminars and conferences, bringing in expert speakers, additional equipment and  pilot research funds.

“The Dean’s Circle and its donors provide, and will continue to provide, critical support to our college,” said Cowan. “We greatly appreciate each donor’s support of our mission.”
