“I’m pleased that we were able to bring in some top-of-the-line equipment for our members,” said Adam Carter, Fitness Center manager. “This equipment arrived the second week of July and is already proving popular with members.”

Four pieces of the new equipment are cardio machines from Octane Fitness. Two of them are XT-One machines, a variable elliptical that can mimic walking, running, hiking and mountain climbing, Carter said, allowing users to vary their workout.

The Fitness Center also received two Zero Runner machines, which offer a zero impact running experience.

“This is a fantastic machine for people who love to run, but aren’t able to get outside and don’t like treadmills. It also is good for people who have joint issues that limit their running opportunities,” Carter said.

The final new cardio machine is a True Fitness Traverse machine. Carter said it is similar to an elliptical machine, but it uses a side-to-side motion instead of the standard front-to-back motion. The side-to-side motion “is an excellent way to train the glutes and hips, which are areas typically neglected by traditional ellipticals,” he said.

The Fitness Center also received a Mi6 Cable Training station from Hoist Fitness. “This is an updated design on the cable stations we have had in the past. This one has heavier weight stacks and new attachments that really let you vary your workout,” said Carter.

The Fitness Center is located on the eighth floor of the Rahn Building. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with keycard access. Employee membership costs $15 a month. The student-rate is $50 a semester and $20 for June and July.
