Chancellor Speaks at Third Walk with a Doc Event
| Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, showed up Sept. 7 at War Memorial Stadium to celebrate the third month of UAMS’ Walk with a Doc and Walk with a Future Doc programs.
A cardiologist by training, Patterson told participants how walking and other forms of exercise benefit heart health. He then led the crowd of community members, patients, students and employees around the park’s walking path as a gentle breeze blew.
“The Walk with a Doc program is such a wonderful example of community outreach at UAMS,” said Patterson. “I love that our residents and medical students are the ones who are really driving this program. Their passion is an inspiration to all of us here at UAMS.”
Natalie Cannady, director of wellness, said she has been pleased with the turnout at the three events.
Walk with a Doc is an international nonprofit organization started by David Sabgir, M.D., a cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio, in 2005. Recently, the nonprofit started Walk with a Future Doc as a way to further involve medical students in the community.
The next Walk with a Doc will be 9-10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5 on the North Lawn at War Memorial Stadium.
