Danielle Lombard-Sims, Ph.D., Named UAMS Vice Chancellor for Human Resources

By Benjamin Waldrum

Lombard-Sims replaces Jeff Risinger, who left UAMS in April for another position. She came to UAMS from Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. Before that she was vice president of the Human Resources Business Leadership Group at Amedisys Inc. She has also been chief human resources officer at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and assistant vice president of human resources at Ochsner Health System, both in New Orleans.

“We’re excited to have Danielle join us as the newest member of Team UAMS,” said UAMS Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA. “We want to continue leading the way, not only as the state’s largest public employer but as one of the most desirable places to work. With Danielle’s experience and leadership, I know we can make that happen.”

Lombard-Sims earned her doctorate in global leadership and organizational management from the Indiana Institute of Technology. She earned master’s degrees in industrial and organizational psychology from Purdue University and in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. She has also held leadership roles in the Human Resources Management Association.

UAMS is the state’s only health sciences university, with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions and Public Health; a graduate school; a hospital; a main campus in Little Rock; a Northwest Arkansas regional campus in Fayetteville; a statewide network of regional campuses; and eight institutes: the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute, Psychiatric Research Institute, Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging, Translational Research Institute, Institute for Digital Health & Innovation and the Institute for Community Health Innovation. UAMS includes UAMS Health, a statewide health system that encompasses all of UAMS’ clinical enterprise. UAMS is the only adult Level 1 trauma center in the state. UAMS has 3,275 students, 890 medical residents and fellows, and five dental residents. It is the state’s largest public employer with more than 12,000 employees, including 1,200 physicians who provide care to patients at UAMS, its regional campuses, Arkansas Children’s, the VA Medical Center and Baptist Health.
