May MVP — Leigh Wade

By Yavonda Chase

Leigh is a licensed certified social worker who works at the Northwest Regional Campus. Her embodiment of our core values goes far beyond her work in the clinic and residency program.

Listen to what her nominator had to say:

“Leigh Wade is more than deserving to be recognized as UAMS MVP. I do not work with Leigh directly, but from the interactions that I’ve had with her, it is clear that she embraces the UAMS core values in her work every day. I met Leigh because I heard that she started a food pantry in the UAMS NW Clinic for patients. When I met with her, I realized just how much work she had put into it. She started the pantry from nothing, and currently relies solely on donations from clinic staff. The more I learned about the work that Leigh does, the more I realized just how above and beyond she goes.

In addition to the food pantry, Leigh also serves on the Complex Care Team, which takes a holistic, interprofessional approach to complex clients who are high risk. Leigh, with her behavioral health background, deeply understands that health is physical and mental, but she goes even further to understand that health is also social. The clinic food pantry is just one of many programs that Leigh is involved in to address social determinants of health. I am awestruck and so inspired by Leigh. She gives me hope for the future of health care at UAMS, in Arkansas and beyond.”
