Interim Requirements for Events during COVID-19 Pandemic

Social events, including but not limited to showers, retirement parties, and other celebrations, must be conducted virtually. We have had several groups conduct successful and meaningful virtual events for such occasions. If you would like to connect with them for creative ideas, please email events@uams.edu.

Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis by the Office of the Chancellor, Academic Affairs, and/or the GME/Resident Office if it is not possible to be 100% virtual, AND the event has an academic basis.

Food must be in a “grab-and-go” format and only eaten in an approved area/room. Also, UAMS maintains a strict no visitor policy for external guests, including events.

All faculty, staff and students are required to fill out the UAMS Special Events form (even for virtual events) and go through the approval process. You can find the form here.

We are continually reviewing the interim requirements and remain hopeful that things will change in the future. Until then, we thank you for your flexibility and continued patience as we try to maintain a safe and healthy place for our employees and students.
