March MVP — Joseph Woodall

By Ben Boulden

Joe is senior systems administrator, advanced, for UAMS Unified Communication. This is what his nominator has to say:

“A hero behind the scenes, with a compassionate heart and love of service to others, Joe has a kind demeanor and works well with everyone he is asked to assist.

He was a huge resource that worked tirelessly when COVID first appeared, and UAMS needed a call center with little notice. He was again a huge resource with the Mitel conversion throughout UAMS.

Most recently, when UAMS started vaccinating the public, Joe drove his wife, nurse Sheila Woodall, also a UAMS employee, in to work as a volunteer in the Appointment Business Center scheduling patients on the weekend. Joe saw a need for his support, and stayed the entire day assisting with phone and IT support. He has also carried his laptop around with him while on a day off, while running errands, to make sure that he was available for any support calls to support the Appointment Business Center.

When someone from our department mentioned all this to one of his coworkers, his coworker’s response was simply “that sounds like Joe.” Joe is proud of his service to UAMS and the patients and families. His response more than once when he has been thanked is that “he is happy to help, UAMS has done so much for him over the years.”

Joe has continued to show a high level of commitment to his work at UAMS for more than 20 years. His example is truly inspiring and motivating. Thank you, Joe.

Joe will be recognized in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for his photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. He will receive free parking for a month in any of the parking decks. He will be featured in a Faces of UAMS video and receive some great UAMS swag. Joe will also be presented with a certificate and monetary award at one of my cabinet meetings and honored at the year-end MVP luncheon.
