UAMS Portal Gives Access to About 3,200 Policies and Procedures
| UAMS currently has approximately 3,200 active policies and procedures across the institution that are accessible in Compliance 360, our centralized policy management software application. In order for us to ensure the standards we hold ourselves accountable to, we steadfastly insist that all employees, physicians, volunteers, trainees, faculty and students are aware of our formal policies.
The Administrative Guide, the UAMS Medical Center Policies and Procedures Manual, and many other divisional and departmental policy and procedure manuals are accessible at the UAMS Policies and Procedures webpage, https://inside.uams.edu/compliance/uams-policies/. You can also reach this page on the Inside UAMS intranet webpage, https://inside.uams.edu/ by selecting the “For Employees” tab in the top bar and scrolling to the very last topic on the page, “UAMS Policies”.
All UAMS employees, physicians, volunteers, trainees, faculty, and students are subject to applicable federal and state laws, University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Policies (BOT Policies), the UA Systemwide Policies and Procedures (UASP), the UAMS Administrative Guide, as well as departmental and office policies and procedures.
Policies connect the UAMS mission to individual conduct, clarify institutional expectations, support compliance with law and regulation, mitigate institutional risk, and enhance productivity and efficiency in operations. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, CMS, lays out the bare minimum for safety. The Joint Commission then uses those standards to set quality and safety ideals that should be reflected in an organization’s policies. UAMS’s policies attempt to raise the bar higher for quality and safety than even CMS or the Joint Commission requires. Our policies shape and drive our clinical and professional practices for all employees and patients within UAMS’s mission.
To reiterate, the mission of UAMS is to improve the health, health care, and well-being of Arkansans and of others in the region, nation, and the world by:
- Educating current and future health professionals and the public;
- Providing high-quality, innovative, patient- and family-centered health care and also providing specialty expertise not routinely available in community settings; and
- Advancing knowledge in areas of human health and disease and translating and accelerating discoveries into health improvements.
A short ‘How to Search for Policies’ tutorial is available here.
- Use a basic keyword search to find a policy by searching the policy metadata or the body of the policy document
- Use an advanced search to see all policies that are related to your department
- Search for policies in a traditional policy manual and policy section structure
