UAMS Police: Illegal to Park in Front of Public, Private Driveways
| The UAMS Police Department wants to remind the Campus Community that according to the Arkansas State Statue it is a violation of the law to park a vehicle in front of a public or private driveway. This offense can lead to your vehicle being towed at your own expense as well as a traffic citation being issued. So please don’t block mail boxes, driveways or trashcans. Be mindful of the residential areas in and around the campus.
Safety Tips:
Do not leave expensive property, such as laptops, CD cases, money, purses, cell phones and portable stereos in plain view. Lock them up or take them with you. Look through your vehicle to assure you do not have valuables in plain view. If you drive a truck, make sure there are no items that are accessible in the rear/bed of the truck.
Always lock your car whenever it is unattended — both on and off campus, even if you’re just out of your car for a moment.
Do not leave your vehicle unattended while the engine is running, even if you are only going to be away from it for mere seconds;
Have your keys out and ready when approaching your vehicle;
UAMS Police and UAMS Parking provide two safe modes of travel. The Police Department gives employees/students rides and escorts to their vehicles after hours when the shuttle buses have stopped for the evening.
When walking out to your car, try not to do it alone. Go with a friend, or when there is another group walking out as well.
If you see someone suspicious please notify the UAMS POLICE DEPARTMENT 686-7777.immediately
