UAMS Voted ‘Best Company to Work For’ in Best of the Best Awards
| Arkansas Democrat-Gazette readers voted the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) the Best Company to Work for >250 in the 2021 Best of the Best awards, while the university’s Interventional Pain Management clinic won for Best Pain Care Clinic.
UAMS was also among the finalists in several other categories, including Best Place to Have a Baby, Best College or University, Best Allergy Immunotherapy Clinic, Best Hearing Center and Best Vision Care Clinic.
UAMS Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, said it’s an honor to win the award because it was voted on by UAMS’ patients and employees.
“I know I enjoy coming to work at UAMS every day, and I’m glad to see Team UAMS does too,” he said.
Patterson said the team members’ diverse backgrounds and experiences are what allow employees to work together to provide the best care to patients.
“I have said many times that diversity is what makes UAMS so great. It is our superpower,” he said. “We bring together employees from 79 countries; we bring together different races, ethnicities and religions. We are so very different, but we are united by our commitment to our patients, our students and our state.”
Johnathan Goree, M.D., director of the Chronic Pain Division at UAMS, credits his team with winning the title of Best Pain Care Clinic.
“The one common thread between all of our team members is that we care. We listen to every unique individual patient story and create a comprehensive plan to improve their quality of life.”
The annual Best of the Best contest is compiled by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and recognizes people, places and services nominated by readers across 63 Arkansas counties.
