January MVP — Tayae Marks

By Ben Boulden

Tayae is the director of pre-registration, and she wonderfully represents the UAMS values of being polite, friendly, respectful, thoughtful, optimistic and compassionate.

Here is what one of her nominators wrote:

Tayae Marks, the Director of Pre-Registration. Tayae has been at UAMS for 18 years. She is exactly what we think of when we think of a caring, patient-first employee. Tayae started with UAMS as an administrative assistant and has been promoted through the levels of Access at UAMS to the Director of Pre-Registration with the Revenue Cycle.

Tayae ensures that patients with future appointments have accounts set up and are ready to be seen when arriving at UAMS for treatment. For the last year of the pandemic, Tayae has managed the registration of the patients in cars coming through the drive-thru for testing. She has also overseen the registration of the patients seen and tested by the mobile units across the state. There have been many weeks that six- and seven-day work weeks were normal for Tayae, and she did this work with a smile on her face. She is the first to ask if someone needs assistance and the first to try to figure out a plan to accomplish the goal whatever the goal may be.

UAMS will recognize Tayae in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. She will receive free parking for a month in any of the parking decks. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and she will receive some great UAMS swag. At one of the chancellor’s cabinet meetings, the university will give her an MVO certificate and monetary award and honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Let’s all congratulate Tayae for being our MVP of the Month!
