March MVP — Cody Humphrey

By Ben Boulden

Mr. Cody is an integral part to the neurosurgery OR team.  He is extremely hard-working and I see him almost every day I operate. I usually can find him in the equipment room maintaining various instruments from microscopes to operating room beds. When I have an equipment failure, I am quick to say “Where’s Mr. Cody?”  He is a true problem solver. If he cannot fix something himself, he will find the answer. He has called people in different states to fix a problem. He has also helped me when I was not operating.  I have needed to obtain operative videos from various scopes, and he has spent his spare time helping me download and troubleshooting.

This is outside his job description but Mr. Cody will always help anyone when they ask. Fundamentally this is what separates Mr. Cody from others is that he will go above and beyond to help his team. Also, I can tell he truly loves his job, and it shows with the pride he takes in his work. I am grateful for all his work and it significantly directly impacts patient care.

UAMS will recognize Cody in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for his photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. He will receive free parking for a month in any of the parking decks. A Faces of UAMS video will feature him, and UAMS is giving him some great branded swag. At one of my cabinet meetings, Cody will receive a certificate and monetary award and honor him and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Do you know someone who should be the next MVP? If you have someone you’d like to nominate, please visit go.uams.edu/mvp/ and fill out the form.

Please join UAMS in congratulating Cody for being our MVP of the Month!
