College of Pharmacy Recognizes Outstanding Preceptors for 2022-23
| The UAMS College of Pharmacy has recognized a number of outstanding preceptors for their efforts in teaching pharmacy students over the 2022-23 academic year.
Preceptors were recognized by the college’s Office of Experiential Education through its advisory committee for showing the highest commitment to student education and engagement. The list includes 10 UAMS Health system pharmacists, 19 state health system pharmacists outside of UAMS and 13 outstanding community pharmacists.
Pharmacy preceptors are licensed professional pharmacists who supervise students, helping translate their classroom learning into practical clinical knowledge.
“Our pharmacist preceptors are all valued members of our pharmacy team who contribute to our education mission,” said Jeffrey Cook, Pharm.D., MBA, UAMS chief pharmacy officer and assistant dean in the College of Pharmacy. “Any preceptor selected by students as outstanding has earned the respect of their leaders, peers and learners. Many preceptors will remain involved in the student’s professional lives as a mentor or resource long after graduation. We are very proud of those that receive this honor.”
“It feels great to finally have a mechanism in place to recognize the hard work and dedication of our community pharmacy preceptors,” said Seth Heldenbrand, Pharm.D., associate dean for experiential education. “I want to thank all of our preceptors for the work they do in preparing student pharmacist to be practice-ready.”
“We at the College of Pharmacy are so thankful for all of the pharmacy preceptors that volunteer their time every day,” said Lindsey Dayer, Pharm.D., associate professor and director of experiential education. “These pharmacists often go unrecognized for all of their work, but to hear how much the students appreciated, learned from and enjoyed these preceptors is wonderful. Congratulations to the outstanding health-system preceptors and thank you to all for your time and commitment.”
