Urologic Reconstruction Specialist Brian Langford, M.D., Joins UAMS Department of Surgery

Langford received his medical degree from UAMS, where he also completed a general surgery internship and urology residency. He received advanced training in urologic trauma, reconstruction and prosthetics through a fellowship at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

His clinical interests include the surgical management of Peyronie’s disease, male stress incontinence, erectile dysfunction, urethral stricture, upper tract reconstruction and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

“We are thrilled with the addition of Dr. Brian Langford to the UAMS Department of Surgery,” said Ronald Robertson, M.D., chair of the department. “His training and expertise will bring new opportunities for patients needing urologic reconstruction.”

Reconstructive urology is surgery to restore normal function by repairing, rerouting or recreating areas of the upper and lower urinary tract and some reproductive organs.  It includes the surgical management of ureteropelvic junction (UPI) obstruction, ureteral stricture, bladder neck contracture, urethral stricture, genitourinary fistula, circumcision complications, buried penis, Peyronie’s disease (abnormal curvature of the penis) and genital injuries or trauma.

Langford also specializes in urologic prosthetics including penile implants, artificial urinary sphincters, male urethral slings and testicular prosthetics.
