December MVP — Dominique Covington

By News Staff

Dominique is an exceptional example of UAMS core values and our mission. Every shift she works, she exemplifies respect, compassion, kindness, and a positive attitude no matter what the floor or staffing looks like that shift.

Recently, she stepped out of her patient care tech role and cleaned over six rooms on Labor and Delivery for our laboring mothers waiting to come out of triage after being admitted. She did this willingly, with a smile on her face, as she does every task delegated to her.

She goes above and beyond what’s asked of her, and you can always count on her to encourage the team, comfort our patients, and be a smiling face that everyone loves to see.

Dominique is a light to everyone she comes in contact with. She won our “Complete package” award on the unit several times throughout her three years at UAMS, recently in March, and truly deserves recognition hospital-wide. She serves as an elite role model for our CCA employees, other PCTs, and nurses as well.

She is a vital resource to our charge nurse in many ways and completes any task delegated to her in her scope without question. She truly puts our patients first. This has been evident by patient surveys and communication from patients in leadership rounding that they also know that.

UAMS will recognize Dominique in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and we’re giving her some great UAMS swag. At one of the chancellor’s cabinet meetings, we will present to Dominique a certificate and monetary award and honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Do you know someone who should be the next MVP? If you have someone you’d like to nominate, please visit go.uams.edu/mvp/ and fill out the form.

Please congratulate Dominique for being the MVP of the Month!
