UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute to Hold Health Fair in Huntsville on Feb. 9
| The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute will host a free public health fair at the Madison County Public Library in Huntsville on Feb. 9. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library, located at 827 N. College St.
Patient navigators from the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute will be on hand to share cancer prevention and screening information and to help connect residents with treatment and support services.
Other health care organizations that will be present include the Madison County Health Coalition, Arkansas Department of Health BreastCare program, Hope Cancer Resources, Springwoods Behavioral Health and the Northwest Arkansas Center for Sexual Assault.
Sally Carroll, a Fayetteville-based patient navigator with the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute’s Community Outreach and Engagement Team, said she hopes residents will stop by and learn more about the health services available to them.
“Many times, people know they need help, but the health care system can seem overwhelming and they don’t know where to start,” said Carroll. “These agencies can help. All they have to do is take advantage of it.”
