Jenna Cantrell

By News Staff

Jenna Cantrell embodies the core values of UAMS. She is a dedicated nurse who has worked tirelessly for the past several months to ensure the smooth operation of our clinics on the UAMS NW Campus. She has served as the interim CSM while also staffing the UAMS NW Internal Medicine clinic for several months.

She often rooms patients for both Family Medicine and IM clinics, takes meetings, works on staffing, and interviews prospective MAs and RNs during the same shift. Jenna’s office also serves as a safe space for nurses, MA, residents, and faculty to vent, joke, and maybe even steal a piece of candy from her candy jar.

Notably, our UAMS NW IM patient population is 98% Marshallese, and Jenna’s efforts have significantly improved our quality metrics and coordinated care for this vulnerable population. She demands excellence from her staff and pays attention to detail to ensure our patients are cared for. We have been short staffed for many months, and I have watched Jenna work around the clock to keep the FM and IM clinics afloat all while having a friendly attitude. Her work ethic and integrity are present in all her clinical and nonclinical activities, and we are so lucky to have her work on the NW campus. I want her to feel appreciated and receive the MVP award.

UAMS will recognize Jenna in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and the university is giving her some great UAMS swag. At one of the chancellor’s cabinet meetings, Jenna will receive a certificate and monetary award and honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Do you know someone who should be the next MVP? If you have someone you’d like to nominate, please visit go.uams.edu/mvp/ and fill out the form.

Please congratulate Jenna for being the MVP of the Month.
