College of Health Professions Welcomes Academic Advisors to UAMS
| The UAMS College of Health Professions held its first Academic Advisory Workshop on the Little Rock campus this month.
The Oct. 2 workshop brought together advisors from high schools, and two- and four-year colleges across Arkansas. In her presentation, the college’s Dean Susan Long, Ed.D., provided the audience with an overview of what allied health professions are, and broadly, the education and training the college offers in them.
Throughout the workshop, representatives from each of the college’s 16 programs reviewed their curricula, and the academic advisors seemed eager to learn about the special aspects of each program.
The workshop also featured a panel of students who shared their experiences in academic learning and clinical training in the college. Kimberlyn McKisick, student recruiting coordinator, said the advisory workshop provided “a valuable opportunity to showcase College of Health Professions programs on both the Little Rock and Fayetteville campuses.”
Attendees went on walking tours of the college’s offices and training areas following closing remarks by Phyllis Fields, M.Ed., the college’s associate dean for student affairs.
The college plans to make this an annual event. For additional information on the College of Health Professions programs, visit healthprofessions.UAMS.edu.
