Pharmacy Student Among 15 Nationwide Chosen for ACCP Standing Committee
| Jessica Allred, a fourth-year student in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy, was recently one of only 15 pharmacy students nationwide to be awarded a standing committee position with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP).
“Jessica’s selection to this national standing committee is a testament to her dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence,” said Ashok Philip, Ph.D., the college’s associate dean of student services. “She is an outstanding student and we are extremely proud of her.”
Each ACCP standing committee is tasked with its own goal to work towards over the course of a year. Allred was appointed to the Certification Affairs Committee, which has a goal of developing an online toolkit that provides general resources for pharmacists seeking information on credentialing and privileging. Pharmacist credentialing focuses on qualifications through training and licensure, while privileging determines what patient care services a pharmacist can offer.
“I know I will enjoy working with this committee and learning from such a distinguished group of pharmacists,” Allred said. “Expanding clinical pharmacy services can benefit the nation by increasing access to health care and by hopefully improving health outcomes. I am grateful for the opportunity to assist in the dissemination of resources, and I am excited to see how this helps pharmacists and patients across the country.”
Allred, a Haskell native, was able to travel to Phoenix last month to be recognized thanks to an ACCP Student Travel Award that she also received. The committee began work in Phoenix and will collaborate over the next several months to meet benchmarks before submitting its final draft in July 2025. The toolkit will also be open to the public for comments.
ACCP is a professional and scientific society that provides leadership, education, advocacy and resources enabling clinical pharmacy professionals in more than 60 countries to achieve excellence in practice, research and education.
